On the trip...

Here we are at last, our first night away; the first of many more to come!

Talking about our trip we would often begin our sentences with, "On the trip...".  Well, we are on the trip now so it feels wierd that we can't say that!
Packing and getting ready to go was unbelievably hectic.  A quote from Tony, as we were packing the van:  "Surely we don't need to put anything MORE in here...we've already got the kitchen sink!"   Yes, I have more than likely overpacked, but it will take me a while to get used to the simple life.
We have had a great first day.  We have been perfecting our 'courtesy wave' to fellow caravaners coming towards.  We left Rocky about 7:30 a.m. and it was only 11:15 a.m. that we had our first "Are we there yet?" from Matthew.  It was funny then...wonder if it will be funny after the hundredth time!  Charlie said at one point, "Steady Daddy" thinking Tony was driving erratically - but it was just the wonderful Qld country roads :)
We are in Miles tonight.  It started raining just after we left Taroom, and the temperature has noticeably dropped.  Tony LOVES it!  The boys and I will adjust :)  The final word must come from Matthew, who told Grandma this morning as he was hugging her goodbye:  "I'll be back!"

Now you know I love my iPhone, and I have had heaps of spare time in the car to play...so here are some photos!  A couple of them wouldn't work on here, so look out for them on facebook, if you are on it.  Fun, fun, fun - I love playing with the apps!

Here we are ready to go.  We are wearing our awesome caps given to us by the lovely Liz!
What a thoughtful gift!  I have been blessed with a few itunes cards too, so thank you kind friends...
I am getting heaps of cool apps to play with photos, and some great music too!  So blessed!

Gotta let the boys out occasionally!

And of course, wherever the boys travel - if there is construction equipment to be found they will find it!

We are staying in a great caravan park in a lovely bush setting so we had a very interesting walk this afternoon.

  1. Familiar photo as you stand in front of the car before you take off. I think we have one like that too. Nice to see that you got off Ok and have made it safely to Miles. Enjoy your life on the road.

  2. so pleased you are on the road! We are considering driving to Canberra with the two youngest. Do you have a time/distance limit per day? Do the boys have handheld games or DVDs to help keep them amused? smiles
